We are delighted to announce that Lascivious will be working with the illustrious conservation charity, the Elephant Family on their latest, most magnificent project, The Animal Ball, to be held at a magical London location on Tuesday 9th July 2013.The brand were tasked to create a bespoke pair of masks that reflect our interpretation of an endangered animal - to be gifted to guests paying to attend the nights full festivities, providing the ultimate in conservation chic.

Lascivious Director, Chloe Hamblen says, "We wanted the masks to contain an abstract element, and a nod to extinction itself. Where beautiful, iconic creatures are consigned to history books, leaving only pictures, skins, teeth and make-believe. Such is the reality without urgent intervention. We chose to create a pair of dragon masks - potent, mythical creatures; fitting for a grand ball, but with a very real counterpart in the endangered Kimodo dragon."

The masks were on display in London’s Sotheby’s Auction House alongside designs from Manolo Blahnik, Mario Testino, Matthew Williamson, Missoni, Lulu Guiness, Philip Treacy and Christian Lacroix to name a few. The brand were thrilled to contribute towards such an amazing cause.

When Lascivious suggested that they had a collection in mind that we could collaborate on, I was thrilled. I chose just one photograph from the SS13 collection in the end. For me, the most striking... glamour meets cyberspace, the modern twist on the infamous pinup girl! 

I wanted to intensify her sensuality, create more layers of identity and give it a sense of time and space. Chloe (Creative Director and founder of Lascivious) mentioned that some of the inspiration for this collection came from looking at shadows of palmtrees and how they form patterns on surfaces. This made me think of LA and its multifaceted personality that I have discovered over the past 19 years.

LA is a city that reveals itself over time. Full of cliches and tacky expectations, and yet very intimate, its real life carefully wrapped up within the insular layers of subcultures that exist there. Alike, this multilayered deconstructed visualisation of Los Angeles through the prism of my own interpretations unveils slowly, only to those who really take the time to look.

What I find most extraordinary and easy to relate to in LA is a sense of space once you leave the busy murmur of the city. The silence of hills with endless trails and a few kind smiles to greet you on your way. A harmony of modernist architecture set within the fluidity of hills. A trace of history hidden in carefully tucked away corners of the city, quietly sailing through time. The environment has evolved in stages in and around the initial photograph to become what it is: a little bit of everything I most cherish about this city. The 'cyber girl' seems to be having a good time hanging out on the scene.

Quite unexpectedly this collaboration has led me to start a series of drawings dedicated to Los Angeles. They will be on show at the end of March at Poke. (www.pokelondon.com)

Recently FACTORY311 devised a project called "Endless Summer" with one thing in mind - Sunshine! The team took some time out over winter to explore the big city of Los Angeles.

Nicholas Hardy (Creative Director and Founder of 311) explains...

'we never had any real plan apart from do as many cool projects and meet as many people and companies as possible throughout the 5 week trip. We hit the ground running, meeting with magazines and companies, attending trade shows getting the word out that 311 was in LA.'

Having worked with Lascivious on their recent AW13 campaign, Factory311 were keen to collaborate with the brand further and took Lascivious lingerie samples with them to shoot whilst on location. Whilst there Tom Fraud was commissioned to shoot Nazanin Mandi for Unleashed magazine. Tom also had the pleasure in working with international model Rosie Roff and shot a series of stories in some amazing locations including a rooftop downtown overlooking the Eastern, The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood and the Old Stock Exchange - all featuring gorgeous lingerie from Lascivious.

AW12 Inspiration

In case you were curious... our AW12 collection is inspired by the notion of love as a binding entity – something you want to be chained to; lustful, base and raw. This mood and idea has been deconstructed to draw inspiration literally from flesh and bone - from our Lola collection, with its sinuous flowing design lines, through to Cara, which features an ivory bone colour over which a luxe gunmetal chain is digitally printed. There is also a circular theme running through the ranges, with eyelets, circular cut outs, mesh and components. The Isla collection features a patent leather playsuit that can be laced in any way the wearer chooses - the ultimate in restrictive freedom; and a new collaborative collar and cuffs with Fraulein Kink. Highlights of leather and [faux] fur are included to stimulate the senses; the juxtoposition of hard and soft (heart and bone) echoing the central themes for all AW12 ranges.

Atsuko Kudo is a haute couture fashion designer working in latex rubber. Her striking, provocative and innovative designs have transformed the way people view latex; from a material more commonly associated with fetish, to something uniquely feminine and fashion-forward. Having graced the pages of the best worldwide fashion press and dressed stars including Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, and, perhaps most famously, Lady Gaga, Atsuko's designs are immediately recognisable.

Lascivious first collaborated with Atsuko Kudo in 2007 to produce a range of exclusive pieces lace-printed thongs, sold alongside her filigree-edged gloves and striking collars. The pieces have a timeless quality, despite the ultra-modern material they’re crafted from, and add a totally new dimension to the carefully selected range of accessories we offer. We hugely admire Atsuko’s creativity and the deserved reputation she has earned, and wanted to find out more about her inspiration, brand and future plans.

Atsuko, how did you first begin working with Latex, and what drew you to this medium?

I was around 18 ~20 years old. I discovered the fun of latex whilst I was studying Fashion in Tokyo. I graduated from college wearing latex while some people wore a Kimono! Latex empowers women. When you wear latex you feel special like a super woman. Good latex will get you attention in the right way.

How has your aesthetic developed over the years, and what continues to inspire you?

My interest in latex came from it's fetish roots, but as time passed I thought latex is too good to be hidden in the dark dungeon.

Latex is special, a shiny natural fabric. It's nice to touch like a second skin. Latex gives women’s body magic too. When it is cut well and used in the correct gauge. It’s like the ultimate shape wear that anyone can have.

Latex requires a lot of love and care- how do you look after the beautiful pieces you produce?

Latex is a new fabric to almost everyone on this planet. Which is exciting, it’s a revolution!! But it requires love and care just like cashmere.

As with other fabrics, you have to treat and look after the latex in the right way. If you follow the instructions (see Product care on our website) it will last for a long time. Also latex garments can be fixed. Do come to see us if you have any problems so we can help you.

What attracted you to working with Lascivious?

What's makes it special and sexy is how much you (Chloe) have thought and care about it. Lascivious' approach to sexy is similar to how we think. So I’m happy to work with Lascivious. We need more good loving in this world!

Who on your wish list, as far as people you would like to work with in the future?

The Queen! One day, I'd love to see the Queen wearing my latex designs. Something smart and glamorous! I never thought the day would come to see latex and the Queen in the same place before seeing Lady Gaga meeting the Queen in the red latex Victorian dress we made for her. So we might have a little chance to dream that the Queen may go for it too?

The single thing that would most improve my life is... More days in the week.

Nobody knows this, but... I was the founder of watching porn club when I was in junior high school.

The achievement of which I am most proud is... We are really thrilled to be in the V&A Ballgowns exhibition opening in May this year. The V&A was the first destination for my trip to London. It really means a lot to me and my team.

If I had to save 3 things from a fire engulfing my home, they would be... iPhone, Credit card and husband!

The decks are unique, provocative and highly collectable. We wanted to immortalise these beautiful cards, and what better way than creating our own version of online solitaire?
